Carol North, a dear friend, brought ‘The Next Big Thing’ to my attention as a way to share our current and future projects with fellow bloggers.  With that in mind, I discussed our next big thing with my co-auther, Little Bits, a feisty mix of Shih Tzu and Cairn terrier that insisted she be the lead in the newest project.  Since she is not one to take ‘NO’ for an answer, here is her idea.

THE NEXT BIG THING

Together we will be telling Little Bits story from puppyhood to present day.  She will lead us through the good and not so good of being one of the many forgotten dogs in our world today.  She is titling it “LITTLE DOG LOST.”

PASSING THE TORCH

Carol North, who I count as a close friend, wrote for magazines and newspapers many years.  Her work has evolved into writing and campaigning for animals that cannot speak for themselves.  Through her efforts  at www.feedingfidoandfluffy.com she checks out various foods and treats for pets.  Her readers can count on healthier animals if they read and heed the important information she gives on that site.  She is also a champion for seniors and their pets.  Operating a nonprofit organization, SENIORS FOR PETS, INC., (www.seniorsforpets.com) she and others help needy SW Florida senior citizens pay for basic vet care for their pets.  Being the busy person she is, she has yet another project already in the works .  She will be adding a category to FEEDING FIDO AND FLUFFY.  Healthy homemade Pet Treats seemed a natural and will be coming soon.

WHAT IS THE WORKING TITLE OF YOUR PROJECT?

Little Dog Lost

WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?

It came from watching this little four-legged miracle adopted a short three months ago that has gone from a barking, terrified, anxious twelve pounds of dog to a loving, protective pet who knows she is loved.  Seeing so many in the shelters that my family cannot save and see so many returned in short order after adoptions, we thought it imperative to tell the story from Little Bit’s viewpoint.  She will answer the rest of the questions.

WHAT GENRE DOES YOUR SITE FALL UNDER?

Diary/Letter

IF IT BECOMES A BOOK AND THEN A MOVIE, WHAT ACTORS WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY YOUR CHARACTER?

I’m not certain if Benji is still available.  If so, I would love to have him play the part.  After all if a boy collie can play the part of Lassie, surely Benji could play a girl’s part, too.

HOW LONG WILL YOU BE WORKING ON IT?

I sincerely hope a long time – preferrably in human years.  As you know, dog years seem to move at a fairly fast clip.

WHAT OTHER SITES WOULD YOU COMPARE IT TO?

There is one other site – “The Gentleman Tom Cat’s Diary”  @ www.gentlemantomcat.com that could act as a pattern.  He told his story from the view of a cat as I shall relate the views of a dog.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START THIS WEBSITE?

Fear inspired me.  Fear that others like me may not be adopted before they are destroyed.  Fear that dog fights will not be ended.  Fear that man will never understand animals as well as we understand man.

WHAT ELSE ABOUT THE SITE MIGHT PIQUE THE READER’S INTEREST?

I think the many different animals, mostly dogs, that I meet could hold anyone’s interest.  We are so varied and our stories fascinating.
